SAN FRANCISCO >> “Sutter” Brown, a Pembroke Welsh corgi christened California’s first dog by his owner Gov. Jerry Brown, died Friday following a brief illness. He was 13. The dog’s health had deteriorated rapidly in recent days and the decision was made to say goodbye, the governor’s press office said in a statement. He passed away peacefully with the governor and first lady Anne Gust Brown at his side, and was laid to rest at the family ranch in Colusa County, where he “loved to roam, sniff and play,” the statement said. Is the BIG ONE COMING? Earthquake SWARM near California border sparks fears of MEGA tremor
MORE than 250 small earthquakes have struck the Californian border with Mexico, sparking fears of an impending colossal quake among residents and scientists. The flurry of quakes struck in the southern end of the Brawley Seismic Zone on Saturday. The zone is a seismically active region where tectonic plates are moving away from each other. This causes the Earth’s crust to stretch out and is “basically adding land”, according to seismologist Egill Hauksson, from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). The zone falls in the region that connects the San Andreas fault with the Imperial fault, both of which have the potential to cause catastrophic earthquakes. Extending about 30 miles, the Brawley Seismic Zone stretches across the Salton Sea’s southern half and ends near Bombay Beach. ExpressMore California DOOM to follow.....
